Translation Tuesday: Who Are Your People

I am not sure that this is confined to the South. Growing up in the area of the north I grew up in, EVERYONE knew who my family was and what my connection was to someone else. Maybe we were just special, who knows. The one thing that is unique to the South is how they say it, as seen below.
It is pretty common down here for someone to ask “who are your people.” How long have you been in the area, who was your mom’s mom? Are you related to so and so from wherever? You never know who will know someone… hence, the common question: who are your people?
