The Y’all Map

April 5, 2013

I love the word y’all. I mentioned here in my first ever Translation Tuesday about two years ago. So you better believe I pinned this when I saw it on Pinterest a few weeks ago. So dead on in my opinion and just too funny!

The next time you are on vacation to one of these regions… pay attention to how they communicate this phrase. I would have to disagree with the Florida shading though. It is a different type of Southern state and you never know what you may get.

Yep, this is true. There’s also a small bit of Texas that thinks the word “toboggan” means “hat”. Maybe you live in that part. If so, I’m sorry. It does not mean “hat”.

Ha. I agree a toboggan is not a hat. However, my boss does wear a snow cap like that in the winter and then the whole office… Which has people from the south, north, west and Midwest all start the debate again on what actually is a toboggan!

I disagree with Florida, but I think the rest is pretty right on. As for “toboggan” I would know what someone meant using that term.
